Tips for Drivers on New Year’s Eve
All of us at Briggs Supercenter would like to wish you a very happy New Year’s and hope that it’s a night to remember. To help avoid any problems or panic if you do plan on going out to help stay safe. Whether you plan on drinking, are going out and not drinking, or are the designated driver, there are a few great tips for drivers on New Year’s Eve.
1. Plan ahead
One of the best solutions to avoiding any trouble on New Year’s is to plan ahead. If you’re drinking, have a ride set up ahead of time so that you’re not faced with trying to make a decision while impaired.
2. How are you getting home?
Because there are so many celebrations taking place this night at bars and houses, there typically is a lot of drinking going. Make sure that you have a DD, and if not, have other arrangements with a cab or shuttle service.
3. Food and water
If you’re the one hosting the party, make sure there are plenty of snacks and bottled water for guests. (And if they are staying over at your place, some ibuprofen might not be a bad idea either.)
4. House to hotel
Be prepared, if you have a large group of friends coming over for a party and you notice that anyone is unfit to drive, make sure they do not get behind the wheel. Have some pillows and blankets on hand ahead of time in case this happens
5. Protect others on the road
Whether you’re heading out or heading home and you see someone that is swerving from lane to lane or is driving recklessly, do not hesitate to call 911. Even if this car is now car lengths behind or ahead of you, to prevent them from hurting themselves or others, it’s always a safer bet to call just in case.
