How to: Sell Your Vehicle Online

Pre-owned 2014 Ram 1500
Only one big thing is holding you back from purchasing your next new car, your old one. Maybe you’re still toying around with the idea of selling it on your own, or maybe you’ve given into the digital world and decided to learn how to sell your vehicle online. Here are Briggs Supercenter, we know all about used cars, it’s our specialty, and we would love to see you drive off our lot in a new pre-owned vehicle of your own; therefore, our experts are happy to give you some pointers if this is your first time selling.
As a starting point, there is some basic information that you’ll want to acquire about your vehicle such as:
-Make and model
-Year and VIN (This is your vehicle’s unique identification number, made up of a combination of 17 letters and numbers.)
- Factory paint color code (rather than just saying “red”) and the date it was manufactured.
Once you have these facts, it’s time to gather up information about the vehicle’s recall and mechanical history. Beat the buyer to these questions to show that you are honest and dependable.

-Has the vehicle been recalled? If so, what for, and were any new parts installed?
-To help reassure the buyer, having a vehicle history report will be important. Something that lists accident, and owner history like a report from “Carfax.”
-If you can, create a folder with the information above and include any receipts from recent work done on the vehicle within the past couple of years
Here comes the most important part, hooking the buyer. The information above will reel them in, but you have to give them something to really bite into, and this will depend on your cleaning and photography.
-Detail your vehicle like you’ve never done before, you want the inside and out to look like the newest model sitting in a dealer’s showroom.
-Interior: vacuum, scrub the seats, cup holders and dash. Wash the windows and windshield.
-Exterior: wash the exterior, make the windows spotless, and blacken the tires.
-Take multiple pictures of the inside, back and front seat. Angle your exterior photos so you can capture the front, back, and sides.

Determining a fair price will take some research, but this is what we would recommend:
-Search for your vehicle online and see what others are charging and compare this to what consumer guides like KBB.com say; use these prices as guidelines.
-Don’t be too anxious to sell, and come down so low in price you won’t be able to afford your next vehicle.
-Finally, make sure that you give more than one form of contact information. List a phone number, provide texting as an option, and include an email. Be sure to reply quickly, but don’t chase the buyer down, you don’t want to scare them away like clingy first dates that don’t…stop…calling.
